The Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Dr Toni Aubynn, will speak at the Africa Energy Technology Conference (AETC) 2026 on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
The conference, which will be attended by the President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and other distinguished global stakeholders, will focus on critical issues shaping Africa’s energy sector under the theme: “From Borders to Bridges: Driving Intra-African Trade & Development through Energy & Technology Services.”
Dr. Aubynn is expected to share insights on the Petroleum Hub Project and its strategic importance in positioning Ghana as a leading petroleum and petrochemical hub in West Africa.
His participation as a speaker further highlights Ghana’s growing role in shaping Africa’s energy future and the importance of strategic infrastructure investments to strengthen regional energy resilience amid global market uncertainties.
The Africa Energy Technology Conference (AETC) has established itself as a premier annual gathering that brings together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and academia to explore practical solutions to Africa’s evolving energy challenges.
The 2026 edition is expected to convene major stakeholders in the oil and gas industry to explore innovative solutions, partnerships, and policies that will drive sustainable growth and industrialisation across the continent.
The programme will run from Tuesday, 19th May to Thursday, 21st May 2026 at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra.
About the PHDC
The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) was established under the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation Act, 2020 (Act 1053), to lead the development of a world-class petroleum and petrochemical hub in Ghana. The hub is intended to serve the energy needs of the West African sub-region and the broader continent.
PHDC aims to promote innovation, research, and strategic infrastructure development to meet Africa’s growing demand for petroleum products and services. By creating an integrated petroleum value chain, the Corporation seeks to unlock economic opportunities, foster industrial growth, and create sustainable employment for Ghanaians and citizens across Africa.
About the Petroleum Hub Project
The Petroleum Hub Project will be located in Jomoro, in Ghana’s Western Region. The hub will comprise: Three refineries with a total capacity of 900,000 barrels per stream day (BPSD), Five petrochemical plants with a minimum capacity of 90,000 BPSD. Storage tanks with a cumulative capacity of 10 million cubic meters and at least two jetties to support import and export activities.
The project is poised to position Ghana as a leading petroleum and petrochemical hub in Africa, enhancing regional energy security and economic integration.
