The Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Minister of Transport, Hon. Dorcas Afo Toffey, on Monday, May 25, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the project office of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation in the Jomoro Municipality.

According to the Hon. Minister and MP, the visit was to acquaint herself with the ongoing land acquisition efforts and to motivate the team comprising Lands Commission staff, PHDC staff, and community volunteers. The team has been carrying out various activities over the past five weeks to acquire the 12,356-acre land for the Petroleum Hub project.

In her brief interaction with the joint team, Hon. Afo Toffey commended them for the excellent work done over the past month and reaffirmed her support for the Petroleum Hub project.

The Deputy Minister further emphasised the importance of community support and participation. She urged residents in the Jomoro area to embrace the project and the opportunities it presents. According to her, the Petroleum Hub project has the potential to transform the local economy by creating both direct and indirect jobs for the youth and businesses in the area.

The land acquisition activities, which have been ongoing for the past few weeks, are being carried out collaboratively by staff of the Lands Commission, the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), and volunteers from the Jomoro area.

About the Petroleum Hub Project
The Petroleum Hub Project will be located in Jomoro, in Ghana’s Western Region. The hub will comprise: Three refineries with a total capacity of 900,000 barrels per stream day (BPSD), five petrochemical plants with a minimum capacity of 90,000 BPSD. Storage tanks with a cumulative capacity of 10 million cubic meters and at least two jetties to support import and export activities.
The project is poised to position Ghana as a leading petroleum and petrochemical hub in Africa, enhancing regional energy security and economic integration.
