As part of efforts to accelerate investment and development of Ghana’s Petroleum Hub project, the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) will host its maiden Inter-Agency Dialogue on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Accra.
The forum, organized under the theme: “Building the Energy Hub of Choice: Unlocking Synergies for a Globally Competitive Petroleum and Petrochemical Hub”, seeks to foster greater collaboration and coordination among key government institutions involved in the Petroleum Hub value chain. It aims to streamline regulatory and approval processes to create a more investor-friendly environment.
The high-level dialogue will bring together leadership from various regulatory, investment, and oversight agencies to discuss practical strategies for expediting the approval of licenses, permits, and certifications for businesses and investors engaged in the project.
The event will be attended by the Minister of Energy, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, and the Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare. Both are expected to reaffirm the government’s unwavering commitment to creating an enabling environment for business growth and investment.
PHDC Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Toni Aubynn, will deliver a keynote address highlighting the core objectives of the Petroleum Hub project, its current progress, and its alignment with the government’s flagship 24-hour economy agenda. He will also emphasize the critical role inter-agency cooperation plays in achieving the project’s milestones.
It is anticipated that by the end of the one-day session, all participating agencies will commit to an integrated and expedited approach to approvals and regulatory processes, reinforcing investor confidence in the Petroleum Hub initiative.
Importantly, the designated Petroleum Hub area has been declared a Free Zone enclave, meaning businesses operating within the zone will benefit from the incentives and privileges outlined under the Free Zones Act.
Agencies expected to participate include the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Petroleum Commission, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Office of the Attorney-General, and the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA).
