The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation was honoured with a surprise visit by the Legal Advisor to the President, Ms Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Ms Marietta Brew visited the PHDCโs new office at the Airport Residential Area in Accra to gain firsthand insight into the exceptional work being done by the Dr Toni Aubynn-led corporation to promote and market Ghanaโs transformational petroleum hub project.
During the visit, Ms Marietta Brew lauded the PHDC leadership for their strategic decision to relocate to a more expansive facility, noting that this move aligns seamlessly with the governmentโs policy of cost optimisation and operational efficiency.
In a closed-door meeting with Acting PHDC CEO, Dr Toni Aubynn, and his Deputy in charge of Finance and Administration, Ms Halimatu Sadia Abdulai, Ms Marietta Brew spoke glowingly about the remarkable progress made by the PHDC under Dr Aubynnโs leadership.
Ms Marietta Brew commended the PHDC leadership for the diligence, innovation, and commitment shown in their bid to attract investment to the petroleum hub project, assuring them of the governmentโs interest and support for the project.
Dr Aubynn described the visit by the distinguished legal luminary and public servant as a great honour and expressed profound gratitude for her decision to allocate time from her demanding schedule to visit the PHDC.
He stated that her visit is yet another reflection of the interest and dedication of President John Dramani Mahama and the entire government to the petroleum hub initiative.
Dr Aubynn added that the visit will serve as a motivating factor for the management and staff of the PHDC in their bid to drive investment to the hub, which is viewed as the future of Ghanaโs energy security and primary source of employment for over 780,000 Ghanaians.

The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) was established under the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation Act, 2020 (Act 1053) to lead the development of a world-class petroleum and petrochemical hub in Ghana. The hub is intended to serve the energy needs of the West African sub-region and the broader continent.
PHDC aims to promote innovation, research, and strategic infrastructure development to meet Africaโs growing demand for petroleum products and services. By creating an integrated petroleum value chain, the Corporation seeks to unlock economic opportunities, foster industrial growth, and create sustainable employment for Ghanaians and citizens across Africa.
About the Petroleum Hub Project
The Petroleum Hub Project, estimated at $60 billion, will be located in Jomoro, in Ghanaโs Western Region. The hub will comprise: Three refineries with a total capacity of 900,000 barrels per stream day (BPSD),
Five petrochemical plants. Storage tanks with a cumulative capacity of 10 million cubic meters and at least two jetties to support import and export activities.
The project is poised to position Ghana as a leading petroleum and petrochemical hub in Africa, enhancing regional energy security and economic integration.
