The Deputy Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Richard Gyan Mensah, officially opened the Ghana Stand at the 2025 Global Energy Show in Calgary, Canada, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
In a concise address before the opening, Hon. Gyan Mensah emphasized the Ghanaian delegation’s primary responsibility to promote opportunities within the Ghanaian energy sector.
He encouraged them to highlight Ghana’s commitment to transitioning to renewable energy while strategically utilizing its hydrocarbon resources to drive development.
“We represent Ghana and are here to showcase our nation and forge partnerships with reputable businesses that will benefit our country,” he stated. “Our focus is to advance initiatives that serve Ghana’s interests. As a nation, we are dedicated to pursuing a renewable and green transition agenda while ensuring we maximize the benefits of our hydrocarbons. Our discussions here are multifaceted and will undoubtedly yield significant advantages for Ghana.”
Hon. Gyan Mensah praised the participating companies and organisations, assuring them of the government’s unwavering support in fulfilling their objectives.
The Ghana Stand features several booths, including one from the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), led by its acting CEO, Dr. Toni Aubynn. On the exhibition’s first day, the PHDC booth attracted considerable attention, with visits from notable figures such as Hon. Richard Gyan Mensah, Andrew Maharaj, Senior Trade Counsellor at the Canadian High Commission, Edwina Atta-Sonno, Executive Secretary of the Canada-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, and members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy.
The Ghanaian delegation at the 2025 Global Energy Show also includes representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Members of Parliament from the Select Committee on Energy, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), and the Energy Commission.
