The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation took its observation of International Women’s Day 2026 to another level with the organisation of a power-packed three-day seminar that inspired and empowered women across the corporation.

Held under the official IWD 2026 theme “Give To Gain,” the seminar centred on three core pillars: Giving Wisdom, Giving Voice, and Giving Guidance.

The Giving Voice session featured Madam Marietta Brew, Legal Advisor to the President, whose presentation focused on influence-building and credibility.

The former Attorney-General urged the young women to be intentional in cultivating their reputation and to never compromise their integrity, emphasising that it is essential for both personal and professional advancement.

“Women should develop their reputation with integrity and not compromise on it,” she stated.

She further explained that professional networks extend beyond mere membership and that they are about forming meaningful relationships that unlock opportunities when they arise. She encouraged the participants to seize every chance to showcase their full potential.

Hon. Emelia Arthur, Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, delivered a compelling address titled “Resilience and Barrier Breaking”, which was part of the Giving Voice pillar.

She acknowledged the additional challenges women frequently encounter in the workplace but urged them not to allow these obstacles to constrain their ambitions.

She emphasised that professional competence is independent of gender and encouraged women to trust in their capabilities and confidently pursue leadership positions in their respective fields. Hon. Emelia Arthur also advised the women to embrace their humanity, avoid imposing unrealistic expectations on themselves, and foster solidarity among one another.

Madam Fiona Frances Oppong, a member of the Legal Directorate at the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, spoke on “Positioning for Advancement within an Institution,” where she offered practical insights and valuable advice on strategically positioning oneself for career progression in the corporate environment.

The Giving Wisdom session featured prominent female leaders within the corporation, who shared inspirational stories and testimonials of overcoming corporate challenges to reach their current positions.

Led by the Deputy CEO for Finance and Administration, Halimatu Sadia Abdulai, who shared an inspiring account of her journey from a young girl in the Nima suburb of Accra to becoming one of the leading voices in Ghana’s oil and gas sector, the senior female leaders outlined key lessons from their careers and explained how their junior colleagues could apply them for success

The seminar was climaxed with the launch of a mentorship program in which senior female leaders of the corporation were paired with junior female staff to provide ongoing guidance and support

By investing in the development and empowerment of its female workforce, the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation continues to demonstrate that the success of Ghana’s Petroleum Hub will not be measured solely by infrastructure and investment, but also by the talented people it nurtures and the transformative leadership it inspires.
