The Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), Dr Toni Aubynn, was honoured on Saturday, 23 November 2025, alongside a host of distinguished personalities, as one of Ghana’s Most Influential Corporate Leaders of the Decade.
At a prestigious ceremony held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Dr Toni Aubynn was honoured as an exemplary corporate leader, with the impact of his visionary leadership resonating across the mining, finance, energy, sports, and broader industries.
Dr Aubynn, a former Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, is renowned for undertaking far-reaching regulatory reforms that shaped Ghana’s mining industry. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, where he provided strong advocacy and thought leadership for the development and regulation of the mining sector.
For nearly a decade, Dr Aubynn was Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Gold Fields Ghana, where he spearheaded corporate affairs and sustainability initiatives. He developed and implemented strategies that significantly enhanced the company’s sustainability performance and reputation. He also held the position of Director of Corporate Affairs at Tullow Oil Ghana, where he played a key role in managing the company’s public relations and sustainability programmes.
Dr Aubynn currently serves as Chairman of ARB Apex Bank, the apex institution for Ghana’s Rural and Community Banking (RCB) industry. He previously chaired Amenfiman Rural Bank, where he led transformational efforts that propelled the bank to sustained growth and leadership within Ghana’s rural banking sector.
Today, Dr Aubynn is leading Ghana’s ambitious drive to establish the continent’s first integrated petroleum and petrochemical hub.
Since assuming the role of CEO of the PHDC in March 2025, Dr Aubynn has introduced several innovative and creative measures to promote the Petroleum Hub project and attract investment. Upon completion, the project is expected to create over 780,000 jobs.
The event, organised by the Entrepreneurship Foundation Ghana, celebrated Ghanaians who have distinguished themselves in the corporate sector over the past decade and beyond.
Other award recipients included Dr Ken Attafuah, former Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority; Julius Neequaye Kotey, CEO of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority; James Agyenim-Boateng, Managing Director of SIC Insurance PLC; Sylvester Mensah, CEO of the Ghana Export-Import Bank; and several others.
