The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Mr George Blay-Morkeh, has reasserted the firm commitment of the corporation to the RESET agenda being pursued by the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on the sidelines of State-Owned Enterprises at the SIGA Governing Board and CEOs Conference 2026, held on 10 September 2026, he said the Board remain focused on providing the strategic oversight and support required to enable Management to deliver PHDC’s mandate.
“As a Governing Board, our responsibility is to provide the strategic direction, oversight and support necessary to ensure that PHDC delivers on its mandate. We are committed to working closely with Management to advance the Petroleum Hub vision which will deliver a groundbreaking economic development for Ghanaians and I say we are fully aligned with His Excellency, the President’s Reset Agenda,” he said.
This comes as President John Dramani Mahama urged all heads of entities to ensure their respective institutions contribute meaningfully to the economic development of the country through industrialisation, job creation, and reduced importation.
On his part, Dr Toni Aubynn, Chief Executive Officer of PHDC, also described the conference as insightful and productive. He stressed that the strong and harmonious relationship between the Board and Management provides a solid foundation for the Corporation to advance the development of the Petroleum Hub project and deliver on its strategic objectives.
“The discussions at this conference have re-ignited the clear expectation that, State-Owned Enterprises must create measurable public value and At PHDC, the Board and Management are working as one team to turn the Petroleum Hub into a reality that will drive industrialization, create jobs and strengthen Ghana’s position in the regional and global petroleum value chain.”
The Petroleum Hub, which is being developed as a major petroleum and petrochemical complex, is expected to create over 700,000 jobs for Ghanaians and also secure the country’s energy future.
The annual SIGA Governing Board and CEOs Conference is a platform that brings together leaders of State-Owned Enterprises to reflect on their responsibilities, share best practices and explore practical approaches to improving institutional performance and creating greater value for the Ghanaian people.
This year’s edition brought together the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, board members, heads of specified entities and other distinguished dignitaries to deliberate on issues under the theme: “Creating public value through leadership, corporate governance, and performance excellence.” The program took place on 10th September, 2026 at the Labadi Beach resort in Accra, Ghana.
