The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) is representing Ghana on the global stage as it participates in the 2025 Global Energy Show, taking place from June 10 to 12 at the BMO Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This prestigious international event brings together energy leaders, innovators, and stakeholders from around the world to discuss the future of energy, with a strong focus this year on decarbonization and sustainable development.
Ahead of the main exhibition and conference, the PHDC team is taking part in a Decarbonization Training session today, June 9. This pre-conference engagement is aimed at equipping delegates with insights into cutting-edge technologies and strategies for reducing carbon emissions—a key component of the global energy transition and an area of growing interest in Ghana’s energy planning.
Led by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Toni Aubynn, the PHDC delegation is set to engage in high-level discussions and networking opportunities throughout the three-day event. One of the highlights of the Corporation’s itinerary is participation in the CEOs Connect Program, an exclusive platform for energy sector executives to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and explore investment opportunities.
In addition to the main exhibition, where PHDC will showcase Ghana’s Petroleum Hub vision and investment prospects, the Corporation will attend a formal industry reception designed to facilitate business-to-business engagements and strengthen global networks.
As part of its broader engagement strategy while in Canada, the PHDC team will also pay a courtesy call on Ghana’s High Commission in Toronto on June 16, where they are expected to brief officials on the Corporation’s international engagements, outline key outcomes from the Calgary summit, and explore avenues for deeper diplomatic and trade collaboration between Ghana and Canada in the energy space.
Dr. Aubynn expressed enthusiasm about the Corporation’s participation, noting:
“This is an important opportunity to position Ghana not only as a growing player in the petroleum sector but also as a country ready to lead responsibly in the energy transition. Our presence here affirms PHDC’s commitment to international collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth.”

About the Petroleum Hub Project
The $60 billion Petroleum Hub Project, situated in Jomoro in Ghana’s Western Region, will encompass: Three refineries with a combined capacity of 900,000 barrels per stream day (BPSD).
Five petrochemical plants with a minimum capacity of 90,000 BPSD. Storage tanks with a total capacity of 10 million cubic meters. At least two jetties to streamline import and export operations.
This landmark initiative is poised to position Ghana as a preeminent petroleum and petrochemical hub in Africa, bolstering regional energy security and fostering economic integration.
