On Thursday, 7th November 2024, Mr. Charles Owusu, ESQ, FCA, CEO of PHDC, completed a series of significant engagements with key institutions in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

Mr. Owusu engaged with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), a center of sustainable development and maritime innovation and research. The meeting focused on exploring collaborative opportunities in maritime technology and infrastructure to support the growth of Ghana’s maritime sector. During his visit, Mr. Owusu explored how these innovations and research could be applied to enhance Jomoro’s Port development.

Additionally, Mr. Owusu met with the ICT Cluster of Companies, a group of leading tech firms specializing in digital transformation and maritime logistics solutions. These discussions aimed at identifying ways to integrate advanced ICT solutions into the operations of the Jomoro Port, streamlining processes and boosting efficiency in handling goods and services.

He also engaged with TIDES, a research institution known for its work in sustainable tourism and environmental protection, where he discussed potential sustainable development solutions for the Jomoro Port, ensuring it aligns with global sustainability standards.

Lastly, consultations with PORMAR, which is Port and Maritime, further solidified the collaboration between PHDC and Las Palmas, advancing the vision of establishing the Jomoro Port as a major hub linking Africa, Europe, and beyond, reducing transportation costs and enhancing the movement of goods and services globally.
