The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), Dr. Toni Aubynn, has provided reasons for the corporation’s decision to relocate its office from Dzorwulu to Airport Residential in Accra.
In August, the PHDC announced its move from the office it had occupied since its inception to a more spacious yet cost-effective facility.
Speaking during an interview with Onua TV on Thursday, October 2, 2025, Dr Aubynn explained that the relocation aligns with management’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
He noted that, in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s pledge to reduce government expenditure, the PHDC, under his leadership, deemed it prudent to adopt a similar approach to ensure value for money.
We have relocated to a new office to improve efficiency and achieve cost savings. Our previous office in Dzorwulu was adequate, but after evaluating the rent and space constraints, we decided to move to a new location at 25A Sir Arku Korsah Street. Although the new facility is more spacious, the rent is significantly lower than at our previous location. This is one of the ways we are cutting costs,” he stated.
Dr Aubynn also highlighted key achievements made by the PHDC under his leadership, noting that the corporation is on track to secure compensation for the project.
He emphasised that the PHDC is actively working to ensure that Ghanaians, particularly the youth of Jomoro, receive top-tier training in preparation for the project’s construction phase.
He further elaborated that the PHDC is fully committed to implementing its local content policy, ensuring that the youth of Jomoro benefit substantially from the initiative.
“We are determined to ensure this project benefits Ghanaians, as it will generate numerous job opportunities upon commencement. We aim to avoid relying on foreign labour by proactively training Ghanaians and preparing them for the project’s start,” he said.
Dr Aubynn added, “We are committed to realising the President’s vision of creating jobs for the nation’s youth. The Petroleum Hub is a classic 24-hour economy project. The hub will operate around the clock, and its ancillary facilities will create numerous additional opportunities.”
