The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) has held its second-quarter Staff Durbar, for management to brief staff on the progress of the land acquisition process.

The durbar, which took place on 30th April 2026, brought together management and staff to reflect on progress made so far in securing the land for the Petroleum Hub project and discuss the Corporationโ€™s commitment to staff wellbeing and welfare

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Executive Officer of PHDC, Dr. Toni Aubynn, commended the team for their unwavering dedication and professionalism throughout the first quarter of the year.

The Deputy CEO( F&A), Halimatu Sadia Abdulai Abu, reiterated the importance of workplace efficiency and accountability as the Corporation advances into the next phase of the project.

She also encouraged staff members to remain committed to their responsibilities so that the corporation can deliver on Ghanaโ€™s ambitious vision of building a world-class petroleum and petrochemical hub.

One key highlight of the session was the update on the extensive community engagement exercise recently undertaken in Jomoro. The deputy CEO in charge of Operations and Technical, Mr. Onasis Rosely, who led the engagement, emphasised that the engagement formed a critical part of the acquisition process and ensured that the affected communities are fully informed and actively involved every step of the way.

He also added that the presentation of the gazette by the Lands Commission to the Municipal Chief Executive and traditional authorities initiates governmentโ€™s intention to acquire 12,365 acres of the Jomoro land for the project. This step enforces governmentโ€™s commitment to due process and openness.

The gathering entered the last phase where the floor was opened for staff members to share their grievances, concerns and feedback to management. This further strengthens PHDCโ€™s culture of inclusiveness and open communication.

The second quarter Staff Durbar forms part of PHDCโ€™s internal engagement strategy aimed at aligning staff with key project milestones, while ensuring that the Corporation remains focused on delivering Africaโ€™s premier petroleum and petrochemical hub.
