The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), Dr Toni Aubynn, has been honoured by the CSR/ESG Institute as the ESG and Sustainability Ambassador for 2025.
The award, presented to him at the PHDC headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, celebrates Dr Aubynn’s longstanding contribution to the promotion of sustainable Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices in Ghana and beyond.
In remarks prior to the award presentation, Professor Wayne Dunn, President and Founder of the CSR/ESG Institute, highlighted Dr. Aubynn’s instrumental contributions across Ghana’s mining, banking, energy, and finance industries as the foundation for this prestigious recognition.
Professor Dunn noted that the institute has closely followed Dr Aubynn’s work since his tenure as Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Goldfields Ghana, where he championed corporate affairs and ensured environmentally sustainable practices became a hallmark of gold mining in the country.
Professor Dunn also cited Dr Aubynn’s transformative leadership as Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, where he developed a blueprint for sustainable mining in Ghana, as a key factor in the institute’s decision to honour him.
“Dr Toni Aubynn has made significant contributions to ESG sustainability, not only in Ghana but worldwide. Our mission is to encourage businesses and organisations to embrace sustainability strategically. Dr Aubynn has exemplified this for over two decades. From his roles in the mining industry, at the Chamber of Mines, and as CEO of the Minerals Commission, he has consistently driven sustainability pragmatically and strategically.”
